Biography:

Tetiana Boriak is a researcher at the Faculty of History. She obtained her PhD in history in 2008. At present she is completing her postdoctoral programme and the dissertation thesis. Tetiana Boriak was born on 3 September 1981. She graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 2003. In 2004, she received her MA in history from that Universtiy and in 200, she was awarded a Master’s degree in history in Kansas University (Lawrence, KS, USA). In 2008, Tetiana Boriak defended the dissertation on documental heritage of the Ukrainian emigration in interwar Czechoslovakia (reconstruction of the so called ‘Prague Archives’). In 2015, she received an academic title of Associate Professor. From 2008 to 2016 Tetiana Boriak worked at the National Academy of Managerial Staff of Culture and Arts. Between October 2020 and October 2022, she did the Postdoctoral programme.

Expert activities

2010-2017: assistant to the journalist, researcher, columnist of the Washington Post, Pullitzer Prize winner Anne Applebaum in the project of preparation for the Western audience of an English-language book about the Holodomor in Ukraine. The result of collaboration was the book Red Famine: Stalin’s War on Ukraine (2017).
